Week of 11/6
Good afternoon WOL Family,
As everyone is aware the holiday season is upon us. This means many, many things including people shopping, baking, cooking, cleaning, get togethers, etc., etc. Since we are going to be so busy the next two months we have decided to slow things down here at church. This does not mean that we will not be having church (except for the 23rd) but we will not be having any special services during this time.
Please take some time to re coupe and to refresh yourselves. I think many of us are a little weary and just need to get in the presence of the Lord and find some rest that we may be missing. Take a look at Revelation 14:12,13, "Here is the patience of the saints, they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. And I heard the voice from heaven saying, Write, Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from henceforth: yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors; for their works follow with them." We are called to walk in patience with endurance and sometimes we can wear ourselves out if we just keep going and going and going. But if we take the time to rest then we can push on to what the Lord has for us to do. One day we will find rest from our labors but until then we need to, "press toward the mark of the high call of God in Christ Jesus (Phil. 4:13)."
We still have a few things going on this month. First off, don't forget to set your clocks back one hour before you go to bed Saturday night. It is the end of daylight savings time so get an extra hour of rest and come to church refreshed ready to praise and worship the King of Kings!
Sunday, November 6th and Sunday, November 13th will be a continuation of the class on the Prophet and the prophetic. This class will begin at 6:00pm each Sunday evening.
Tuesday, November 8th, Deborah's Co. will be having their monthly time of prayer and Bible study. It will begin at 6:00pm. All ladies are invited and encouraged to bring a friend or two for this awesome time.
We will be having two outreaches to the nursing homes this month. The first one will be on Saturday, November 12th at 3:00pm. It will take place at Elberta nursing home on Elberta Rd. Please get there 15 minutes early for a time of prayer. The second one will be at Summer's Landing Retirement home on South Kimberly Rd. on Saturday, November 19th at 2:30pm. Again, please be there 15 minutes early for a time of prayer. If you desire more information please see Fred Washington.
Wednesday, November 23rd we will not be having church service. This is a time to spend extra time with family the night before Thanksgiving. So enjoy your time and spend it with family and friends.
Have a great week and weekend. We are here for you if you need us. Thank you for all that you do here at WOL. It would not be the same without you. Make a difference to those around you. You have the answer to whatever they need. See you Sunday morning, Lord willing and don't forget to "fall back."
Pastor Doug
