Week of 9/4

Good afternoon WOL Family,

Welcome, everyone, to September!  I pray that you had, and are looking forward too, an incredible month!  Pastor Phil shared last night about focusing and directing your heart.  We have the ability and the need to put our hearts on the Lord and to keep them there.  I believe most of us can agree that when we just start to go through the motions that it is easy for our hearts to turn from the Lord.  Not in an evil way either.  In Revelation chapter 3:14 Jesus is talking to the church of Laodicea.  He says of them that they are neither hot nor cold.  He also said, "I know your works."  They were working and doing the things they should be doing but just kind of showing up and not focusing on the Lord in the midst of the work.  This put them in a precarious position.  When we get like this we don't have any fire or passion and that puts us in a lukewarm state that makes us taste awful to the Lord.  We, as a personal desire, and as a church, need to put our hearts and minds back on the purpose of the Lord so we can fulfill His calling in us.  If you didn't do so last night make a purposeful decision to put your heart back on the purpose of God.

Sunday the 4th we will have a baptism at 3:00.  It will take place at Betty Roberson's house.  If you need directions you can ask Betty, Pastor Doug, or Pastor Phil.

Sunday, September 11th will be a spiritual gifts analysis test for those interested.  It will begin at 6:00pm and take place here at the church.

Tuesday, September 13th will be the Deborah's Co. monthly Bible study and prayer time.  All ladies are invited to attend these powerful meetings and encouraged to bring a friend.

Love in Action is in need of gently used winter cloths for their Christmas trip to the Indian Reservations.  Anyone wanting to help with this can drop the cloths by the church and we will make sure they get to Tommy and Glo.

Finally this month I am asking everyone to pray for Pastor Phil and Bobby and Karen Harrison.  They will be headed to Russia again the end of the month.  Please pray for a powerful, Spirit lead, trip that will put those they minister to in another place of growth in the Lord.  Thank you for your prayers and any financial support that you are able to give.

Have a blessed day, week, and month.  May the Lord richly bless you in mind, body, and spirit.  See you on Sunday, Lord willing.

Pastor Doug
