Week of 8/28

Dear WOL Family,

I pray that your week has been excellent.  Pastor Phil had a very good message on honor last night.  He said that you have to be able to honor a person in their calling in order to receive from that person.  That brought up a couple verses that I thought we could look at.  Romans 13:7 says, "Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor."  This verse is talking in the context of the governing authorities.  We are to render unto Caesar but we are also to honor and reverence the position of Caesar, so to speak.  I have been going through 1 Peter in the prison this month and he talks about this topic of honoring the King.  It hits me that we, especially as Christians, need to learn about submitting and honoring those in authority.  We will never be without someone in authority over us.  Even the President is subject to advisors and the people.  We need to learn this truth and really honor and revere those that rule over us, whether in our homes, our jobs, our churches, or our nation.  There is a reason for this besides God telling us to.  In Matthew 10 Jesus talks about the reward we will receive because we choose to honor those around us.  "He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.  And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.  He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.  He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me. He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward. And he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.  And whoever gives one of these little ones only a cup of cold water in the name of a disciple, assuredly, I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward."  See, when we honor God by honoring others we will be blessed and rewarded in the end.  So hang in there.  Keep doing good and don't get weary.  He has us in the palm of His hand!

Don't forget the Healing services this weekend.  Friday night will begin at 7:00pm and Saturday will begin at 10:00am.  If you can, please spend some extra time with the Lord praying for these services and if you are able to do it take some time to fast as well.  God is moving and we are in the middle of the flow.  Come expecting great things to happen.  Also, if you haven't done so already invite someone.  You, and they, will be glad you did.

Monday, August 29th the Youth and Children's ministry will go to Christian skate night at Olympia Skate Center.  The time is from 6:00 to 8:30 and the cost is $4.00.  If you need further information or directions please see Pastor Chris or Fred Washington.  They are planning on meeting in the parking lot of the skating rink at 5:45pm.

Finally, Love in Action is in need of winter cloths for their Christmas outreach to the Indian reservations.  If you have any winter clothing in mostly good condition please bring it by the church and we will make sure it gets to Tommy and Glo.

Have a great rest of your week.  I look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow evening for the first healing service.  Come expecting great things from the Lord.  You are loved and very important to the ministry here at WOL.

Pastor Doug
