Week of 7/3
Good afternoon WOL Family,
I would like to be the first to wish everyone a very happy Independence Day. Take some extra time with your family and friends this weekend.
Pastor Phil has declared July a month of rest. Yes, this has to do with physical rest since we had so much going on in June. But this is also a time of spiritual rest. Let us spend this month just refreshing ourselves in the Lord and learning to be at rest no matter the situation that we are in right now.
The last two Wednesday nights Pastor Phil has talked about being strong in the Lord. We learned last night that much of our strength in the Lord comes from waiting on Him. The primary scripture is from Isaiah 40:31, "But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint." Waiting on the Lord brings strength but in order to wait on the Lord you also need to be in a place of rest. There are at least 3 things that we need to come into (I think) to be able to come to this place of waiting and resting. First is Faith. Faith is a complete trust in Father. We can obtain peace through our times of prayer, praise, and thanksgiving no matter what is going on around us. And finally, contentment. Contentment comes when we are spending our time with Father, having faith in His plan, and coming into peace with God. 1 Timothy says that, "Godliness with contentment is great gain." And through Godliness and contentment, with faith and peace, we get rest! So spend the month resting but also spending some extra time with Father strengthening ourselves in Him!
Two things to mention for this month. First is Monday, July 4th. Because of the holiday we will not be holding prayer at the church.
Tuesday, July 12th will be Deborah's Co. at 6:00 pm at the church. All ladies are invited and encouraged to bring a friend.
Have a great rest of your week and have a great long weekend (for those who get one). Be blessed and be a blessing to someone else. See you Sunday, Lord willing.
