Week of 6/5
Good afternoon WOL Family,
Pastor Phil talked about peace last night. It really hit me when he mentioned that we have a covenant of peace with our God (Is. 54:10). If God is our peace and He has a covenant of peace with us then the only way for that peace to be broken is if we allow our circumstances, thoughts, feelings, emotions, or the enemy to take it away from us. This is an awesome thought. In Philippians 4 Paul says this: Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
When I was studying the teaching I did on the seven last sayings of Jesus from the cross it hit me how fully Jesus put his life in the hands of Father. I know that He was in anguish in the Garden of Gethsemane but He submitted to the will of Father no matter what. He didn't want to go through what He had to but He was willing and was at peace with Himself and God. Can we say the same about ourselves? I know this was a timely message for me and I hope it was for you. If our steps are lead by the Holy Spirit then we will have to go through some things so we can mature in our faith. The question is that when we get a little anxious or start to worry are we able to put it over on God and live in peace? Can we pray and give thanks for the answers even when we haven't seen them yet? Can we actively guard our hearts and minds through Christ and not let worry, fear, anxiety, or any other negative emotions capture us so that we loose heart? This is truly an area I have been working on for a long time and still need to work on for total victory. If you missed last night I suggest you ask for a copy of the CD.
Friday, June 10th and Saturday, June 11th Deborah's Co will be hosting a women's conference with Janet German. Friday begins at 7:00pm and Saturday begins at 10:00am. All ladies are invited to attend and bring friends and invite as many people as you can. Come out looking for God to move in these meetings.
Tuesday, June 14th Deborah's Co. will have their monthly prayer time and Bible study. It begins at 6:00pm. All ladies are invited to come and bring someone.
Finally, the third weekend of June we will have Rob and Mary Grindley with us. They are missionaries to Botswana, Africa. Friday, June 17th will begin at 7:00pm for everyone. Saturday morning will be for the leadership and begins at 10:00am. Sunday morning will be our normal worship time.
There is one more thing I almost forgot. Saturday the 18th we will be having a father's day lunch for the men (you don't have to be a father to attend). It will be at 12:30 here at the church. All male members of WOL are invited. Also, we are in desperate need of a few more workers for our children's ministry and nursery. Anyone interested in furthering the needs of this ministry in our kids please see Pastor Chris. Thank you.
You are Loved and needed. I pray that you have a great rest of your week and I will see you here Sunday, Lord willing. Be blessed!
