Week of 1/29

Good afternoon WOL Family,

This year is really moving.  In less than a week it will be February!  We have a few things coming up in the next two weeks.

First, Pastor Phil will be having a men's meeting on Sunday, January 29th.  It will begin at 6:00  All men are highly encouraged to attend.

Saturday, February 4th and Sunday, February 5th we will be having special meeting with Doug Jones.  Mr. Jones graduated from RHEMA Bible Training Center and has been in full-time ministry since 1975.  Saturday evening will begin at 6:00pm and Sunday morning will be at our normal worship time.  Come out expecting God to move in a miraculous way.

And finally, we will be having our Annual Business Meeting for all church members on Sunday, February 12th following the morning worship service.  Lord willing, it will be relatively short but if you need to eat by a certain time please make plans for that.  All members are encouraged to attend.

This is a year of Victory!  Last night I talked about Faith and how that relates to our Victory.  Faith is always now.  Whenever you pray, believe and  you will have what you say, Jesus said.  Second, speech.  What are you saying?  Are you speaking the Word of God or are you speaking doubt and unbelief?  We need to line up our belief, our speech, and our actions.  Are we moving out as far as we can go and doing everything possible in the natural?  Keep pushing into Jesus this year.  Victory is possible but it is not necessarily easy.  Are we going to push and let God do what He has promised or are we just going to let it get by us?  That choice is ours.  I am choosing Victory!  Word of Life is choosing Victory!  How about you?

If you need us this week we are here.  Keep praying and keep believing.  Have a blessed and fabulous weekend.  Lord willing, I will see you on Sunday.

Week of 1/22

Good afternoon WOL Family,

This year is a year of Victory!  Victory comes because of the Cross and the shed blood of Jesus.  Another word that can be substituted for victory is salvation (it is usually the other way around in scripture -- victory is substituted for salvation).  One way that we receive Victory is through Mercy.  Pastor Phil had an incredible message on Mercy last night.  Think of mercy this way -- NOT getting what you DO deserve.  We deserve to be sick, have lack, and go to hell; but because of the mercy of God we don't have to have those things.  We don't have to have the just punishment for our sin because Jesus already paid the price so that we could go free.  That is Mercy.  Pastor Phil taught last night that mercy comes because of covenant.  The covenant written in the Blood has set us free so mercy is available.  Joel 2:32 says that if we call on the name of the Lord we shall be delivered.  That is what salvation (or Victory) is about, deliverance.  We are saved because of covenant, we are delivered because of covenant, and we receive heaven because of covenant.  Keep pushing into Jesus to receive YOUR Victory this year!

Saturday, January 28th the outreach team will be going to Summer's Landing on South Kimberly Rd.  The service will begin at 1:30 so please be there 15 minutes early for prayer.

Sunday, January 29th Pastor Phil will be having a men's meeting here at the church.  It will begin at 6:00pm and all men are highly encouraged to attend.  Part of our Victory as men will begin at this meeting so you don't want to miss it.

Finally, don't forget Doug Jones the first weekend of February.  If you want more flyers to pass out just let me know.  This weekend promises to be anointed and powerful.  Come expecting a mighty move of the Spirit of God.  Please spend some time praying for Mr. Jones and the weekend.

May God grant you your heart's desires and make all your plans succeed (Ps. 20:4).  I pray that you have an incredible week.  Keep pressing, keep seeking, keep knocking!  It is through faith and patience that we inherit the promises of God.  Lord willing I will see you Sunday.

Week of 1/15

Good afternoon WOL Family,

I hope that everyone is participating in one form or another in the fast that we are doing this week.  We have had some great evenings of prayer and Wednesday evening service was very good.  The Lord is taking WOL to a higher dimension in Him and He is also taking each one individually into Victory!  If you can't see yourself in Victory think about this a minute.  God's greatest Victory looked like a total failure to man.  When Jesus was arrested, beaten, and finally crucified the disciples were lost and afraid.  However, the dying, bleeding, and eventually dead man hanging for all to see was Great Victory in the eyes of God.  Jesus, who willfully died, had just brought the availability back to man for a one on one relationship with God, the Creator.  Victory is not something that comes easily, necessarily.  Victory is something that needs to be pushed into in order to get.  Are you ready to push into Jesus this year to bring about Victory in areas that you may have been praying about for years?  Are you ready to see God move in a mighty way?  It will take all of us to push in and ask (and believe) for this to happen.  It is time for us to "get on our knees and fight like a man!"  Our Victory is found in Jesus!

Saturday, January 14th the outreach team will be going to Elberta Healthcare.  The service starts at 3:00.  Please be there 15 minutes early for prayer.

Saturday, January 28th the outreach team will be going to Summer's Landing.  The service there will be at 1:30.  Again, please be there 15 minutes early for prayer.

Sunday, January 29th Pastor Phil will be having a men's meeting here at the church.  All men are highly encouraged to attend.  The meeting will begin at 6:00.

Have a blessed rest of the week and weekend.  Remember, we are fasting and praying through Sunday.  Also remember that the church is open for prayer each evening from 6:00 to 8:00.  You don't have to come for two hours.  Just come when you can.  This is a needed part to move us into what the Lord is doing this year.  If we can be of service to you or you need something let us know.  Lord willing, I will see you Sunday.

Week of 1/8

Good afternoon WOL Family,

Remember the theme for 2012 is Victory!  God's desire for you is good.  Press into Him this year and know that all you have been through will result in final Victory!

This Friday, January 6th begins our fasting and prayer.  We are asking everyone to fast and pray for 10 days, from the 6th to the 15th.  Pray for the Will of the Lord to be done here at the church and in our lives.  Pray for financial blessing for the church to do the work that God has given us to do (including a financial miracle to finish phase 1 of the building project).  Also pray for financial blessing on those in the church so we can get out of debt and help finance the Kingdom of God.  During these 10 days the church will be open from 6:00 to 8:00 each evening.  Come for the whole 2 hours or just come for a few minutes.  Just come when you can.

This Sunday, January 8th we will be starting our fellowship time before Sunday morning service.  Because of this Sunday school will start 15 minutes earlier.  Sunday school will begin at 9:15 and end about 10:00 and fellowship time will begin at 10:00 and go until shortly before church.  Hope to see you there.

Sunday, January 8th we will be having a new members class at 6:00.  Everyone that has joined recently is asked to attend this class.

The outreach ministry will be going to Elberta Healthcare twice this month and once at Summer's Landing.  Elberta Healthcare will be Saturday, January 7th and 14th.  The service time is at 3:00.  Please be there 15 minutes early for prayer.  Summer's Landing will be on Saturday, January 28th and will be at 1:30.  Again, please be there 15 minutes early for prayer.

Finally, Sunday, January 29th Pastor Phil will hold a men's meeting here at the church.  It will begin at 6:00.  All men are encouraged to attend this meeting.

May God bless you this week.  Remember, God is putting us into Victory!  Push into Him so He can do what He desires.  I hope to see you on Sunday.

Week of 1/1

Dear WOL Family,

Happy New Year!

Last night Pastor Phil talked about fear.  With the coming of the new year there is a lot of fear, especially since many people don't know what this new year brings.  I don't think I have ever been in a time that there is just so much unknown about what is coming.  But, as Christians, we don't have to fear the unknown or those things that we think we know that are out of our control.  Most of us are familiar with 2 Timothy 1:7, "God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind."  Remember, no matter what comes about we have nothing to fear.  Our God has us in the palm of His hand.  He has already done everything required for us to have provision, health, and well-being.  Our job is to learn how to appropriate it.  So remember, no matter what comes in the new year we cannot let fear into our lives.  We need to let faith in and push into what God has for us!

Saturday, December 31st -- We will have our annual watch night service.  We will begin with some fellowship beginning at 9:00 followed by a time of worship and praise in the sanctuary at 10:30.  Bring something to share for the time of fellowship and come expecting a great time in the Lord into the new year.

Sunday, January 1st -- There is no Sunday school.  Church will be at the normal time of 10:30.

We have a number of things going on in January including 10 days of prayer and fasting.  We are asking everyone at WOL to participate in whatever way they can.  The dates are Friday the 6th to Sunday the 15th and the church will be open every night during that period from 6:00 to 8:00 for prayer.

Have a great rest of the week and I hope to see you on Sunday.  Have a blessed afternoon and weekend.

Week of 12/25

Good afternoon WOL Family,

Merry Christmas!  I believe we have all heard that saying, "Jesus is the reason for the season!"  The older I get and the more I think about it the more that saying is true.  Jesus truly is the reason for Christmas!  The more the secularists try to take Christ out of Christmas the more we have to proclaim His name!  What they don't realize is that without Jesus there would be no season of Thanksgiving or Christmas.  There would be no need to give thanks and no need to give gifts.  It is because of the Love of God that we have any reason to celebrate.  For God so loved us, loved the World, that Jesus came, that we have a reason to celebrate.

Pastor Phil talked about trust last night.  He made a great point about one reason that we can trust God.  Before we knew that we needed a savior, before we knew that we needed help, Jesus came for us.  Paul put it like this, "While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" and this He did to "demonstrate His love for us (Rom. 5:8)."  So we have the greatest reason in the world to celebrate this season.  Jesus!  He truly is the reason for the season and for our salvation and for life itself.  Celebrate Jesus!

There is one announcement this week.  We will not be having Sunday school on Christmas day or New Years day.  We will be having morning worship service starting at 10:30.  Come celebrate Christmas with your church family Sunday morning!

Have a very blessed Christmas week.  Don't let the hustle and bustle of the day keep you from getting some rest.  I hope to see you on Sunday.  If you are going to be out of town for Christmas have a safe and enjoyable time.  We will see you after the new year.  Have a great Christmas!

Week of 12/18

Dear WOL Family,

The Lord is truly in this place!  We had a mighty presence of the Lord at last nights service.  I had a chance to speak and we took some time to talk about deception.  We are in a lot of darkness and we are moving into an even greater time of darkness.  The good news is that as the darkness grows darker the Light gets brighter and stronger.  See, even in the church people are being deceived.  The scary part is that much of this deception has gone into the seminaries and is being propagated among the pastors coming up.  We have church people coming together with people of other faiths and values and linking arms and calling it unity.  We have teaching saying that sin is not real.  That Adam and Eve were not real people and that man is not a special creation of God.  Let me make a point here, We need to love people and not look down on where they are at; however, we need to call falsehood wrong and righteousness, right.  We need to know what the Bible says, be lead by the Spirit, and not fall into sin or deception.  God is calling His people to righteousness, holiness, and purity.  Only when we are seeking Him can He move through us and save a world that is becoming more and more hostile towards Him.  We all know John 3:16.  Jesus loves the World, not just the Christian.  He doesn't desire that any should perish.  His desire, and will, is that all come to repentance.  Let us grow up and do what God has called us to and win many, many people to Jesus.

Saturday, December 17th the outreach team will be ministering at Summers Landing on South Kimberly Dr.  The service will begin at 1:30 and prayer will be at 1:15.  If you are attending the outreach this Saturday do your best to get there for prayer.

Also, don't forget that we will not be having Sunday school on the 25th or the 1st.  However, we will still be having morning worship service.  Come expecting a great move of God and thank Him for the ultimate gift of Jesus.

One last heads up: we are planning a time of fasting and prayer in January.  It is set for the 6th -- 15th.  There will be more information coming and we ask you to prepare for whatever kind of fast you can do.

Thank you for all you do.  We are starting to progress on the new building and have a long way to go.  Thank you for all your help with the building fund this last year and keep praying for God to provide the rest.  Have a great rest of the week and I hope to see you on Sunday.

Week of 12/11

Good afternoon WOL Family,

Last night Pastor Phil talked about intercession.  According to Dictionary.com intercession is, "a prayer to God on behalf of another."  This can be a prayer about anyone else but not yourself.  I know how easy it is to go into prayer and pray for yourself and your situations but leave everyone else out of it.  Intercession is specifically for someone else.  The problem, it seems, is that in order to really intercede takes time and that is something that most people really don't have much of.  This really needs to be a priority in our lives though.  There was a book I came across in college which has recently come back to my mind.  It is called Operation World.  It is basically a listing of every country in the world with their specific people groups, religions, languages, economics, etc.  Thanks to technology and the internet we now have operationworld.org.  The country to pray for today (Thursday) happens to be the United States.  According to a link off Operation World, Joshua Project, there are 63 (by my count) unreached people groups (where less than 2% of people are Christian) in the United States!  That is amazing!  Chris and I saw a presentation a little over a year ago about how the unreached of the world were coming to our doorsteps.  I think that this confirms that report at least to a degree.  This is a website I would encourage you to check out everyday (I have made it a second homepage for my computer) and intercede for a nation everyday.  It is through our intercession that God will move and fulfill the Great Commission.  There is nothing more important than the salvation of the World!

We have two things going on this next week here at the church.  First is the Christmas party.  The Christmas party will be Sunday afternoon at 5:00 here at the church.  If you have not signed up for it and plan to attend please let me or Chris know ASAP (we need to know how many are coming for food).  We are asking families or individuals to have a skit, dance, song, memory, or something else to share.  This promises to be fun and we appreciate everyone that is willing to participate.

Second, we will be having Deborah's Co. on Tuesday the 13th at 6:00.  Since Karen is out west ministering to the Indians (they had 10 or 20 saved on Sunday by the way) it will be led by Luzera Dennison.  All ladies are invited to come.

This is a great time of year where we remember the birth of Jesus.  His birth, however, always points us to the cross.  It is for the cross that He was even born.  As we have been talking about in Sunday school, it was God's original desire to fellowship with His creation and it is only through the cross that He can come back to that original intent.

Have a blessed and prosperous rest of your week.  If we can be of service to you just give us a call or email.  God Bless and remember to Bless God!

Week of 11/27

Good morning WOL Family,

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, GIVE THANKS in all circumstances; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus (1 Thess. 5:16-18).  Enter His gates with THANKSGIVING and come into His courts with praise.  Be THANKFUL to Him and Bless His name (Ps. 100:4).  Oh, Give THANKS to the Lord, for He is good!  For His mercy endures forever (1 Chron. 16:34, Ps. 106:1).  Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.  Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures (James 1:17-18).  God is good all the time so give Him THANKS!

The only thing to report this week is a reminder of the Christmas party on December 11th at 5:00.  If you have not already done so, please sign up on the sign-up sheet on the back table so we know how much food to order.  Also, get together with your family and get a skit, song, Christmas memory, etc. together for that evening.  Pastor Chris will be there on Sunday to start signing people up.  Thank you so much for all that you do at WOL.

Take some extra time with family, friends, and the Lord this extended weekend.  Be Blessed and Give God Thanks for His goodness.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Pastor Doug

Week of 11/20

Good afternoon WOL Family,

I pray that everyone has had a great week.  I know that we are all still kind of shook up over the passing of our friend and hard worker for the Lord Helen.  Just know that she is presently doing what she enjoyed doing before, Worshipping her God and spending time with her Granddaughter.  Just think what we have to look forward too.

This next week we will be celebrating Thanksgiving.    Please remember we will not be having any Wednesday evening service on the 23rd.  Spend some extra time with your family that evening and enjoy yourself.  We have all been incredibly blessed this year so take some time rejoicing with your family.

Also note that the office will be closed next week.

If you have any last minute donations for Love in Action please bring those to the church Sunday.  This will be the last day we are collecting clothes for them.  Thank you for all your support of this outreach.  Also, pray for them as they head out west.  Pray for safe travel and souls saved while they are out there.

Have a great rest of Friday.  Take some time for yourself this next week.  The holidays can get a little stressful sometimes and we all could use a little down time.  Trust int he Lord and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your steps.

Happy Thanksgiving!
Pastor Doug
