Week of 5/27

Good Afternoon WOL Family,

Pastor Phil and Linda got off for Russia on Monday just fine and are presently in White River doing ministry.  Please continue to pray for them during this next week.  Your prayers make a difference!

Also be praying for our speaker Sunday morning.  Our speaker will be Chuck Hall.  Chuck is "the president of World Indigenous missions, a missionary organization with members working in many nations around the world."  This promises to be a great time of worship and education as we get to know more about Chuck and the ministry."  Chuck lives in Texas with his wife, Mary Nell, and has been in full-time ministry since 1983.  If the Lord lays it on you to give an offering to this man of God you can do so by writing a check to the church.

Last night Elder Karen Harrison had a great word for us on The Finished Work of the Cross.  This was a great message about our position in Christ.  How we are Holy, righteous, and pure positionally because of Jesus Christ.  We are already accepted in the Beloved.  God sees us at the beginning the same as He does at the end.  We are already walking in the light and Jesus is in the light.  If you missed this message I would highly recommend that you order this CD.

Also on Sunday, Men's Camp will be taking place.  It will begin at 6:00 with our speaker Pastor Glenn Clower.  All men are encouraged to attend this meeting for a time of fellowship.

The Lord Bless you.  Have a great rest of the week and I hope to see you on Sunday.

Week of 5/20

Hello WOL Family,

I hope that you have all been praying for the Russia trip.  Pastor Phil and Linda leave on Monday for two weeks to minister in several churches in Russia.  Please pray for and continue to pray for safety and a mighty move of the Spirit of God during this trip.

Last night Pastor Phil talked on being attached to the vine out of John 15.  Jesus is the vine and Father is the vine dresser.  Jesus always went back to His Father for direction and refreshing the same way we need to go back to the vine (Jesus) for our direction and refreshing.  When we are not spending the time that we need to with Him we can get dry, tired, and ragged.  We need to go back to Him to get filled up with the things from Him that we need.  Without Him, it says, we can do nothing.  That is, nothing that is fruitful or useful.  We are to be bearing fruit.  Verse 2 says that every branch that does not bear fruit Father takes away.  This can have at least two applications.  Those that have a form of godliness, but no relationship, will eventually leave.  The second, and more important, is that those areas of our lives that don't belong, that don't bear fruit, He will take away from us.  He is looking for the Gold and Precious Stones and wanting to burn out the wood, hay, and straw (1 Cor. 3:12) that is just dry and dead.  Continue to press into Him.  Father is the one that can bring you through the pruning so you can produce much fruit and show yourself a disciple of Jesus Christ!

We have two different events going on this Saturday, May 19th.  The first will be the outreach team going to Fountain Park.  If you are interested in reaching out to the community, meet here at the church at 12:00 to get ready and pray.  The outreach will begin around 12:30 so if you can't make it to the church but still want to participate just head over to the park (bottom of Kimberly Dr.) after 12:30.

The second event on Saturday will be the Women's outing at "Hats at the Hampton."  It will take place at the Comfort Suites at 103 Dunbar Rd. in Byron from 3:00 to 5:00.  Ladies, wear your wildest hat and come enjoy a time of fellowship, games, and fun.  (As a bonus I personally thing the winner of the hat contest should wear their hat Sunday morning)

Sunday, May 27th Men's Camp will be meeting at 6:00 at the church.  Men, come out for a time of fun and teaching with our guest speaker, Pastor Glenn Clower.  This promises to be an entertaining evening as well as a time of serious teaching.  Men, don't miss this awesome time!

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the Power of His might.  Put on the whole armour of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil (Eph. 6:10,11).  Let us know if there is anything that we can do for you.  The Lord HImself bless you and I hope to see you Sunday.

Week of 5/13

Good Day WOL Family,

Jesus is Worthy!  One day we will truly see how Worthy He really is!  In the Book of Revelation John gives us a glimpse into the future.  He writes the following about Jesus:  "Worthy is the Lamb who has been slain, To receive power and riches and wisdom And might and honor and glory and blessing."  And I heard every created thing that is in heaven, or on earth, or beneath the earth, or on the sea, and all things that are in them, saying, "To him who sits on the throne, And to the Lamb, Be the blessing and the honor, And the glory and the power, Forever and ever!"  And the four Living Creatures kept saying, "Amen!" And the Elders fell down and worshiped (Rev. 5:12-14).

We had an incredible service last night.  We got a small glimpse at heaven!  The Spirit of God moved in a mighty way and we worshipped the Lord and Pastor never had a chance to preach!  If you are able to make it, I would encourage everyone to make it out Wednesday night.  God is doing a mighty thing each Wednesday.

Friday, May 11th Fred and Martina Washington will be having a teen Bible study at there house from 7pm to 9pm.  If you are interested in having your teen participate, please call Fred or Martina for further information or just go by their house Friday evening.

Saturday, May 12th the outreach team will be going to Elberta Healthcare.  The service will begin at 3:00 and all participants are asked to be there 15 minutes early for prayer.

Also on Saturday the 12th Brianna Randall will be graduating from UGA.  If you are interested in going to the Graduation Ceremony and have not already talked with Elder Jim Anderson please call him ASAP for information on times for departure and coming home.  CONGRATULATIONS BRIANNA!!!!!

Saturday, May 19th the outreach team will be going to Fountain Park located at the bottom of Kimberly Dr.  For information on this outreach opportunity please see Fred Washington.

Saturday, May 19th the Word of Life Women's Ministry will be taking part in "Hats at the Hampton."  It will take place from 3-5 at the Comfort Suites at the end of Dunbar Rd. in Byron.  There is more information on the back table in the sanctuary.

Thank you all so much for your willingness to obey the Lord in our building fund campaign.  There are more pledge cards on the back table for those that have not received one.  May the Lord truly bless you for your obedience.  Please continue to thank Him for the continued funds to finish the building.

Also, continue to lift up the Russia trip and the Indian reservation trip.  They will be here soon.

The Lord bless you and keep you.  May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and give you Peace!  He is worthy.  Keep pressing through the rough times and Praise Him.  Let us know if there is anything we can do for you!  We are here you!

Week of 5/6

Happy May WOL Family,

Today is the National Day of Prayer.  Please take some time to pray for our nation.  Kenneth Copeland send a great little prayer to start with.  It is as follows:

Father, I bring the needs of our government before You and ask You to bless our nation through godly leaders. I magnify the Name of Jesus and declare that He is Lord over this nation.
Father, I pray according to 1 Timothy 2:1-3 which says, "I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour."
I pray, in the Name of the Lord Jesus, for our president, the vice president, all the Cabinet and the chief justice and associate justices of the Supreme Court to receive the wisdom of God, to act in obedience to that wisdom and for the power of God to flow in their lives.
I pray for the members of the Senate and the House of Representatives to find Your peace and direction, and for these men and women to act and lead according to Your Word. A house divided against itself cannot stand, therefore, I pray for them to be unified in righteousness for the sake of the nation.
I pray for Your protection to cover all our law enforcement officers and the men and women of the military. I ask for godly counsel and wisdom for judges across this land. In the Name of Jesus, I pray that You and our kingdom of righteousness be manifested in the hearts of all those who are in authority in any way.
Father, Your Word says to pray for the peace of Jerusalem because those who love Jerusalem shall prosper. Lord Jesus, because You love Jerusalem and wept over it, I love it also. I pray for Jerusalem to receive the Shalom of God, which brings wholeness—nothing missing, nothing broken. I pray that no leader of our nation will make any decision that will harm Jerusalem in any way. And in the Name of Jesus, I pray that You reveal Your perfect will to all the leaders of Israel. I ask You, Lord, to reveal Yourself to each person. Thank You, Father, for hearing my prayers that are in accordance to Your will. I receive the answers, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

Also, I mentioned last night that there is a prayer movement that is beginning.  The website is onecry.com.  Tonight they will be hosting a two hour radio program to pray for our nation.  It begins at 8:00 and will be broadcast on American Family Radio at 88.9 FM.  Whatever you decide to do, please take some time today to lift this great country before our Greater God that we would be drawn back to Him and He would heal our land!

Saturday, May 5th the outreach team will be going to Elberta Healthcare.  The time of ministry will be at 3:00.  Please meet 15 minutes early for prayer.

Sunday, May 6th we will be having fellowship dinner following the morning worship service.  We are asking everyone to bring a main dish and a side to share with everyone.  Please make plans to come fellowship with everyone and celebrate our Pastor's birthday.  Even if you have not signed up to bring anything just bring something to share and come join us.

Saturday, May 12th Brianna Randall will be graduating from UGA.  The ceremony will take place at 2:00 in Athens.  If you are interested in attending please see Carolyn Randall for more information.  Congratulations Brianna!  Great Job young lady!

Never forget, God loves you and we do too!  You are important to the Kingdom of God!  I heard a question posed yesterday that is very appropriate for today:  What if every day was the National Day of Prayer?  Pray for our nation today and continue to pray for revival!  God is not through with us yet!

Week of 4/29

Hello WOL Family,

Here we are near the end of another month!  Time just keeps marching by!  The presence of the Lord is strong and He is having His way in us.  I want to thank everyone again for your prayers for the Dominican Republic trip and thank you for your prayers for the upcoming Russia trip.  Pastor Phil and Linda will be leaving in just over 3 weeks so lift them up in prayer and lift Russia up that God would have His way and His Spirit would move in might.

Last night Pastor Phil talked about being a strong tree.  Jeremiah 17:7 and 8 say, Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord.  For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes; but its leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit."  So if we "abide in the vine" we don't have to worry about the different times that come.  We need to put our hope and trust in the Lord and not in man.  The person who trusts in man is "like a shrub in the desert, and shall not see when good comes, but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land which is not inhabited (Jer. 17:6).  Keep trusting the Lord.  Keep pushing into Him so that we will "see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.  Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart (Ps. 27:13,14)!"

Sunday, May 6th we will be having a fellowship dinner.  There is a sign-up sheet on the back table and everyone is asked to sign up for a dish or two to bring.  This meal will be following the morning worship service.

Saturday, May 12th Brianna Randall will be graduating from UGA.  The graduation is at 2:00.  If you are interested in attending the ceremony you can ask Carolyn Randall for more information.

Have a blessed week.  Push into the Lord.  Know that He is for you and His desire is for you not against. you.  You are important to Him and to His body, the church.

Week of 4/22

Hello WOL Family,

We have returned from a very successful trip in the Dominican Republic.  Thank you for your prayers and support during this trip.  As I emailed everyone, after I had sent out the blog post, we were not able to go to the Haitian Church Thursday evening because of a very torrential rainfall.  Late Thursday night (almost Friday morning) we took some mattresses out to Los Rieles church to help 21 displaced families to get some rest.  Their houses had flooded so they were taking refuge at the church.  There is a real need to finish that church which has the vision of having space to house people in emergencies with kitchen space and bathrooms.  They have this space walled in with a roof but need additional finances to finish the floor and put in the bathrooms.  According to Mitch Martinez, our missionary contact, they need about $8000 more to finish that project completely.  Just having the floors and bathrooms would be a blessing.   If the Lord lays it on your heart to help with that project we will make sure they receive those funds.  You can see disaster on the news but when you are there to experience it first hand it takes on another dimension.  Please continue to pray for these people.  They have so little already and this is really a burden on them.

Saturday, we were able to minister to about 43 minister couples.  The Holy Spirit showed up and moved in a mighty way.  Many people received personal ministry and strengthened.  Sunday was also a very powerful day with the Spirit moving on many, many people.  I was also able to speak in Los Rieles about persevering.  The Lord had said to speak on that before the flooding took place.  We were also able to lay hands and bless quite a few children and teens.  God is really doing a mighty work in the Dominican Republic.  Along with Los Rieles please continue to pray for this small country.

Sunday, April 22nd we will be having Men's Camp.  Pastor Glenn Clower will be with us and cooking a low country boil.  If you have not signed up and plan to attend please email the church and let me know.  We would like a pretty good count so we know how much to cook.

Also, we will be having a fellowship dinner on May 6th.  There will be a sign-up sheet on the back table Sunday so we don't overdo some items and have none of something else.  Thank you for your cooperation in this endeavor.

Finally, continue to thank the Lord for the funds for our new building.  It is up and dried in.  We still need to do the concrete around it so we can go back to using that parking lot.  Thank you Lord for Your provision to finish completely.  Also, continue to pray for the two upcoming trips to Russia and the Indian Reservation.  May God have His will done on these trips.

Thank you for all that you do and for your continued prayer for WOL.  We are here for you.  May God continue to use each and every one of us for His glory and His Kingdom.  To God be the glory!

Week of 4/15

Good afternoon WOL family,

Week of 4/8

Happy Resurrection Week Family,

He is not here; He is risen, just as He said!  These are the words of an angel to Mary Magdalene when she went looking for the tomb and body of Jesus.  After this the angel told her to go and tell the disciples, and Peter, that the Lord would meet with them in Galilee because He was not dead but risen.  The reason the angel told her to tell the disciples, and Peter, was because of Peter's denial of the Lord at the trial before the Sanhedrin.  He did not hate Peter, He did not even dislike Peter, He loved Peter.  Peter denied Jesus and Jesus had forgiven Him.  There is nothing that anyone has done that is too much for Jesus to forgive.  That is the Good News -- That is the Gospel that Jesus came to give us!

Last night Pastor Phil talked about praising the Lord with His names.  As you do this, God will start to revelate that name of Jesus to you.  So, if you are in need of healing -- Praise Him as the Lord who heals you (Jehovah Rapha).  If you are in need of financial help, Praise Him as your Provider (Jehovah Jirah).  He is your Creator, Sustainer, Sanctifier.  He is the Good Shepherd, the door, the Only Way to Father, and the Resurrection and Life!  He is everything that you have need of or could want.  He is your all in all.  Praise and Worship Him with His names!

Friday, April 6th we will have a Good Friday communion Service.  This will begin at 7:00.

Saturday, April 7th the outreach team will be going to Elberta Health Care to minister at 3:00.  Please be there 15 minutes early for prayer before the service.

Sunday, April 15th there will be an Elder's and Deacon's meeting following the morning worship service.  All Elder's and Deacon's please make plans to attend.

Please be in prayer for those that are going to the Dominican Republic.  We will be leaving on Wednesday the 11th and coming back on Monday the 16th.  Please pray that the will of God would be accomplished on this trip and that He would move in a mighty way and strengthen  the churches that we minister in.

Have a great rest of the day.  I hope to see you tomorrow evening for the communion service.

Jesus is Risen!

Week of 4/1

Hello WOL Family,

Last night I did some recap on the month.  This has been an absolutely fabulous month of Word from the Lord.  "This is the will of God for you, your sanctification (1 Thess. 4:3)."  If you follow the next few verses Paul talks about a few things you should not do.  Then in 1 Thess. 5:23 Paul says, "Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely."  What these two things say to me is that there are some things God wants us to do to become more like Jesus and there are some things that He has to do for us to become more like Jesus.  As we become more and more like Jesus, He is able to fill us with more and more of His Glory.  A few things that we need to work on for our sanctification: our thoughts, our talk, and our actions.  He desires that we think like Jesus, talk like Jesus, and act like Jesus.  He can use us when we are willing.  Those that are truly the Lords will listen to Him and do what He says.  This is when we are truly His disciples.

Saturday, March 31st we will have Family and Friends day with a yard sale here at the church.  If you would like to help set up please be here around 6:30.  The event will begin at 8:00.  We will have something for the kids to do so bring your family and some friends for a fantastic day.  The money raised will go to benefit the building fund and the missions trips.

Sunday, April 1st Men's Camp will be going to Vidalia to participate in a men's meeting at Charles Carter's church.  We will be leaving at 4:00.  Please make note of the change in time.

Friday, April 6th we will be having a special Good Friday service along with communion.  This service will begin at 7:00.

Saturday, April 7th the outreach team will be going to Elberta Healthcare.  Please be there by 2:45 for prayer before ministry at 3:00.

Finally this week there will be no Sunday school on April 8th.  This is Resurrection Sunday and we will be doing some special things in morning worship.  Please make note that there will be NO Sunday School that day.

Please be praying for the trip to the Dominican Republic.  We will be leaving in just under 2 weeks.  There is a lot to do and we could really use some more in the financial area (this goes for Russia and the Indian Reservation as well).  Please keep us lifted up before Father and keep thanking Him for the funds.

I hope to see you on Sunday.  Have a blessed rest of your week.  Don't forget Family and Friends day on Saturday.

Pastor Doug

Week of 3/25

Good afternoon WOL Family,

We had quite the service last night.  The Lord is really coming into our midst and moving mightily.  The Holy Spirit came last night and ministered to certain individuals and was present in a powerful way.  The presence of God is getting stronger and stronger.  One warning came with this presence and power last night.  It was that of Spiritual warfare.  Satan is not going to just stand by and let us push into the presence, power, glory, and victory that God is bringing.  Satan is going to fight to move us out of this great place.  We need to fight back, keep pushing in, and know that victory is on the other side of whatever the enemy tries.  We are fighting FROM the victory that Jesus has already attained!

When Holy Spirit was done Pastor Phil had an awesome message on your anointing and the names of Jesus.  This was a message that was timely with the word about warfare.  We have got to learn to Praise Jesus with His names.  As we do this God will start to revelate those names to us.  Proverbs 18:10 says, "The name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous run to it and are safe."  A strong tower is a place of safety.  When we start to get a revelation of a certain name of Jesus, that name becomes real to us and is a place of safety and security.  The more revelation we receive on that name the more that attribute of Jesus starts to manifest in our lives.  We can run to that name for safety and security.  And just as Moses said to Joshua about the Word of God, the law, that as he meditated in it he would prosper and have success, so also we obtain success and are prosperous in those names that we are receiving revelation on.

Family, we are beginning to see the reward for our efforts in prayer over the last year or so.  This is NOT the time to give up.  This is NOT the time to set it aside.  This is the time to go, go, go.  Pray, pray, pray.  Praise, praise, praise.  If you are like me it seems that there is more and more to do with less and less time to do it in.  We (I'm talking to myself now) have to really purpose in ourselves to set the time aside that we need to pray, praise, meditate on the word and on Jesus.  Victory is assured if we do our part.  Just a reminder to everyone: we are still having prayer here at the church on Monday evening at 7:00 and Wednesday evening at 6:00.  Do what you can to make it to one of these prayer times.  We are seeing a difference and will see more of a difference the more we push in.

Saturday, March 24th the outreach team will be going to Summer's Landing.  The service begins at 10:30 with prayer before the service at 10:15.

Saturday, March 31st we will be having family and friends day with a yard sale to benefit the building fund (by the way, yesterday we poured the slab for the new building.  It shouldn't be long and we will have the building up).  If you have items to put into the yard sale please see Elder Jim or Elder Lavater.

Sunday, April 1st Men's camp will be going to Vidalia to participate in a men's meeting at Pastor Charles Carter's church.   If you plan to go please sign your name on the sheet on the back table.  We will be leaving the church at 4:30.

Finally, please be praying for the teams going to the Dominican Republic, Russia, and the Indian reservation.  These trips will take place in April, May, and June.  Please start thanking the Lord that the finances He has promised will manifest for the trips.  We are still in need of several thousand dollars for the trips.  Thank you for whatever you can do financially also.  God sees what you are doing.

I hope that you have had a blessed week.  Push into what God is doing.  Through faith and patience we will inherit the promises of God!  He is able and He is good!

Pastor Doug
